Student Integration as State’s Main Priority

On September 27, the RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan received the representatives of Youth Research Institutions from medical universities of CIS countries. The delegation was in Armenia by the initiative of the Armenian Youth Foundation and YSMU Students Council.

A. Ashotyan stated that the Ministry closely cooperates with the students’ organizations. “The integration of students in the spheres of science, education and culture is the state’s main priority and the students, indeed, are our partners within the frame of reforms implemented in the educational field”.

Students’ participation in the governmental bodies of the Higher Educational Institutions constitutes 25 percent and students have their representatives in the board under the Ministry of Education and Science. The Minister also informed that the RA President’s Support Program to the Young Scientists has been launched since last year. According to study results Armenia occupies second place with its academic performance among CIS countries.

Students and young researchers taking part in the meeting mentioned that the session hold in Armenia for the first time will intensify inter-university relations and help to form the new ones, meanwhile offering new opportunities for the change of experience. During the meeting young people raised issues related to co-financing of research projects, international grants, student mobility, internalization of education, etc.
