Yerevan Hosts CIS Teachers’ and Education Workers’ Congress

Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan attended, in capital city Yerevan, official opening of the Congress of the CIS Teachers and Education Workers.

In his welcoming remarks, Sargsyan underscored the activities toward developing the education system. “Today’s key tool in the development of society is the production of new knowledge; [and] this requires from the governments to change the process of the state’s system of governance,” the Premier said.

In his words, education and science are the primary functions of a modern state. “The state is obligated to create infrastructures whereby mankind will be able to manifest itself,” Sargsyan noted.

In this connection, and as per the PM, the universities are of primary importance. “It is our duty to create an education system whereby mankind will be able to increase its knowledge,” the Prime Minister said. In this regard, he underscored the CIS education and scientific integration processes, and noted that Armenia is interested in this course.
