Yerevan State University today hosted “Best Student” award ceremony, attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan, the Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, the coordinator of YFA Board of Trustees Karen Avagyan and other representatives of the educational sphere.
The RA Prime Minister congratulated all the prize winners and stressed the great importance of such competitions, considering them the manifestation of students’ self-organization. “We believe that the financial resources that are allocated to you, laudatory words and awards addressed to you serve a single goal – to stimulate students’ active life and the high quality of education. It is competition that creates a healthy environment to enhance and enlarge the scope of knowledge”, stated the Prime Minister. Minister A. Ashotyan stressed, that the “Best Student” competition had been included in the Government’s leading events of 2012 to discover and encourage best students, who had demonstrated good progress and activity in such fields as research, creativity, sport, etc. Ashotyan expressed hope that the competition prize fund would increase year by year, and would be of great interest among students.
The competition was held at the institutional and republican levels, at the basic education program levels (Bachelor’s and Master’s within the higher educational institution) and in 4 main spheres – research work (in humanities, natural sciences and engineering), creative work (culture, art, literature), students’ self-government and sport.
33 students took prizes at the “Best Student” competition.
