The Museum of Armenian State Pedagogical University is celebrating its first anniversary. On the occasion of its one-year anniversary, the Museum has hosted its relatives and friends who have had their contribution to the replenishment and enrichment of the Museum’s collection of valuable materials.
On behalf of ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan, Vice-Rector for Educational and Scientific Affairs Srbouhi Gevorgyan handed out Letters of Appreciation to Tsolak Simonyan, Karen Shavarshyan, Misak Melkonyan, Julietta Gharibyan, Heghine Melik-Vrdanesyan, Iskouhi Lapayan, Mary Margaryan, Armine Sargsyan and David Hovhannisyan.
The University official was glad to say that since the day of its opening the Museum has been a scientific, scientific-educational and scientific-methodological center which has regularly updated and modernized the Museum fund.
Alvard Grigoryan, Director of the ASPU Museum, presented in detail the activities of the Museum and its achievements. She then introduced the updated materials.
She was delighted to say that the first Rector of the Pedagogical Institute, prominent Pedagogue and Professor Arshavir Shavarshyan, will soon have his ‘honourable place’ at the Museum; his buts has been recently given to the University by Misak Melkonyan, Lecturer of the Faculty of Art Education, who also made and donated to the ASPU the busts of Hrachya Acharyan and Manuk Abeghyan and supervised the graduate work of a University student who made the bust of Moses Gorgisyan, a national hero of Armenia and a graduate of the Pedagogical University.
The guests expressed their sincere gratitude to the Museum and promised to assist in the further replenishment of the Museum.
This was followed by a lecture devoted to the First Rector Arshavir Shavarshyan and Gurgen Edilyan, First Dean of the Chair of Pedagogy.
During the event initiated by the Chair of Theory and History of Pedagogy, the University students presented the biographies, lives and activities of the two devotees.
The three-dimensional Museum of the Pedagogical University was inaugurated on November 19, 2012, within the framework of events marking the 90th anniversary of the ASPU. The Museum presents the history of the University, starting from its foundation to our days.
