GSU-17 Conference on the Eve of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

If all the tragedies, that mankind had suffered, would be divided into different parts, the suffering of the Armenian people is sure to be the most horrible among them.

GSU 17th annual conference was held on the 20th of December.

Gegharkunik diocese Bishop Markos Hovhannisyan, GSU staff, lecturers and students were present at GSU plenary session.

GSU rector Ruzanna Hakobyan welcomed the participants and said that “The conference is organized on the eve of 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

April 24, 2015 marks the way to struggle for international recognition through the fact of the Armenian Genocide and dispossession of Armenian people. ”

Bishop Markos Hovhannisyan spoke about canonization of the victims of genocide in Christ Church.

Ruzanna Hakobyan presented a report about the Armenian genocide as a crime against humanity, prepared with Hranush Hakobyan, Doctor of Law, Professor and co-author.

The speaker referred to the qualification of genocide, genocide in international law, forms and mechanisms of taking  responsibility for the genocide in international law, restitution, compensation and satisfaction institutions, Turkey’s international legal liability issues.

After the plenary session the conference was continued in five special sections.
