Yerevan to Become First Capital of European Universities Chess Championship

European Universities Chess Championship will be held in Yerevan, Armenia on October 6-11, 2015, reports the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia.

30 teams from 15 countries applied to participate in the upcoming championship. Three male and three female teams will introduce Armenia in the upcoming championship.

Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan held a working meeting, at which the members of the Organizing Committee reported about the preparatory work for the championship. “We must do our best, so as the young people, who arrive in Armenia, will feel they are in a chess superpower”, informed the Minister.

It should be noted, that European Universities Chess Championship is being organized for the first time on the proposal of Armenian Student Sports Federation.
