Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction prepares skilled personnel and provides further training in the specialties of architecture, design, construction, management and technologies. Diploma granted to the graduates of the faculty of architecture is officially recognized by the French government as equivalent to the French diploma.

The University has effective collaboration agreements with the foreign institutions of higher education and organizations, as well as initiates and participates in the international conferences and joint student workshops.

BRIEF HISTORICAL REFERENCE

1921 – Foundation of the Technical faculty in the Yerevan National University; the faculty included two specialties: Architect-engineer and Hydrotechnical engineer

1930 – Foundation of the University of Construction, including three departments: Architecture-Construction, Hydrotechnical, Chemical

1933 – Foundation of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, including the Faculty of
Construction and the Chemical-Technological Faculty

1989 – Foundation of the Yerevan Institute of Architecture and Construction on the basis of the Faculties of Architecture and Construction & Engineer Construction

2000 – The Institute of Architecture and Construction was renamed into the Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction

Since 1921 over the period of 90 years more than 40.000 citizens of the Republic of Armenia and foreign countries have graduated from the University.

The management of the University is carried out in accordance with the acting legislation of the Republic of Armenia, the law on “Education” of the Republic of Armenia and the approved charter of the University.

Correspondence Study

UNIVERSITY ACTIVITIES

The University carries out educational activities, scientific research work, project and experimental work, building work, contractual work, implements common projects between the institutions of the Republic of Armenia and foreign countries, international collaboration and sport cultural activities.
Educational process in the University is organised in 3 educational degrees: Bachelor, Master and PhD.
The educational programmes correspond to the international standards.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The education is organized in the Armenian, Russian and English languages. If necessary it can also be organised in French.
The University has numerous cooperation agreements with educational institutions from the European countries, such as France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, as well as China, Iraq, Iran etc. Among the institutions collaborating with the University are National Higher Architectural School of Strasbourg, National Higher Architectural School of Lyon, National School of Bridges and Roads in Paris, Royal University of Sweden, Beijing University of Civil-Engineering and Architecture, Moscow State University of Construction, Polytechnic University of Milan, Otto-von-Guerike University of Magdeburg and many others.
A large number of student groups from universities of the above countries have spent academic and research internships in Armenia; in turn, student groups from our university spent internships in the European countries.
The University is a full member of the European Architectural Education Institutions Association, of the REA – network of higher architectural schools of France and of Central and Eastern Europe, Association of Architectural and Construction HEIs of NIS Countries, IAHR – International Association of Hydraulic Research and the Italian “Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation”.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Yerevan State University provides higher professional education in accordance with the Charter approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the State license Ν 305 issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Аrmenia on August 4, August 2004.
Educational process in the University is organised in a three-degree system, which includes Bachelor degree (stationary course – 4 years, by correspondence – 5 years), Master degree (2 years) and Postgraduate studies (stationary – 3 years, by correspondence – 4 years) and PhD course (3 years).
Number of students educating in the University in 2011-2012 school year is 3.250, of which 250 are foreign students.
Number of lecturers is 298 – permanent staff and 165 – holding more than one office and payed by the hour, 42 of whom are doctors of science, 45 professors and 117 candidates of science, 125 associate professors, 190 lecturers and 99 assistants. The academic staff of the University includes 2 academics from the Republic of Armenia National Academy of Science, 16 academics from the Armenian Engineering Academy, 11 corresponding members, 7 members of foreign academies, 1 People’s architect, 7 Honoured architects, 9 laureates of State Prize.
Professional councils are acting in the University on behalf of the Higher Accreditation Commission of the Republic of Armenia, for the defence of Candidate of Science and PhD theses, in particular 029 – for architecture and 030 – for construction.

Admission procedure to the Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction for foreign students is implemented in compliance with the official notification from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, based on the regulation “On admission procedure to the higher education institutions of the Republic of Armenia for foreign students” N 700-Ü adopted on April 28, 2011 and approved by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

The University is providing a modern equipped hostel for its students.

Scholarship is granted to the first year students; as for the second and following years the scholarship is granted on a rotation basis. Scholarship for foreign students is granted based on the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.
