Yerevan State Medical University

Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020. The rich culture and education heritage of the Medical University stands out attracting international students from across the globe who seek to obtain an MBBS/MD in a highly reputed university.

Today, a total of over 7,000 students receive their medical training at the seven departments, and 1184 of them are foreign students. The university tops the list of international student-friendly higher education institutions in Armenia. It was among the first to open its doors for foreign students in the early 1980s.

Education
Yerevan State Medical University has a modern program that transmits comprehensive expert knowledge and focuses on small group teaching and clinical practice. International students may pursue a medical degree at three faculties, namely General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology. An English-taught preparatory course is available.

As the university considers the hands-on experience and practical learning of students to be a core priority of its programs, it now has multiple chairs at the leading medical institutions, clinics and research centers in Armenia along with its proprietary Heratsi N1 Hospital Complex. Yerevan State University is the oldest and largest university in Armenia. Dubbed ‘the mother university’, it facilitated the establishment of other higher education institutions in Armenia. Today Yerevan State University has 19 programs, 100 chairs and about 20,000 students, 18,000 of whom are undergraduates and 2,000 postgraduates, including 300 international students.
