Yerevan State University

Yerevan State University is the oldest and largest university in Armenia. Dubbed ‘the mother university’, it facilitated the establishment of other higher education institutions in Armenia. Today Yerevan State University has 19 programs, 100 chairs and about 20,000 students, 18,000 of whom are undergraduates and 2,000 postgraduates, including 300 international students. The faculty and staff includes about 1600 people.

 

As the university prioritizes research and science education, it operates several science and research centers including the Center for European Studies, Center for Egyptian Studies, Center for Education and Research in Information Technology, Center for Ecological Protection as well as over 20 laboratories.

Education
The University applies the Bologna Process requirements. It offers a bachelor's or undergraduate degree, followed by a two-year diploma (master's degree), and a doctoral degree. It also offers preparatory courses to train students for the entrance exams.
